[Experimental/Rock] Omar Rodriguez Lopez - Coma Pony

You might be familiar with Omar Rodriguez Lopez if you've listened to At The Drive In, The Mars Volta, or Bosnian Rainbows. He's also been incredibly prolific as a solo artist. It's very hit and miss (maybe a 15% hit rate), but when it hits... MAN it hits!!

[Rock] Soft Machine - Hibou Anemone and Bear

This comes off Soft Machine's second album, when they still retained a semblance of sanity. They completely lose their marbles on "Third." Like "break them into a million pieces and scatter them across the seven seas" lose their marbles. Just look at that thumbnail. Do you expect anything less than insanity from these weirdos?

[Experimental] Emeralds - Science Center

A lonely ebb and flow like the cold water around your toes on a beach at midnight.

[Experimental] Múm - Við Erum Með Landakort Af Píanóinu

Múm is one of my favorite experimental groups. When I first heard the album Finally We Are No One in high school I was immediately brought into a calm, open mood. I could close my eyes at the beginning of the aforementioned album and keep them shut through the entirity of the album just let the sound take me into the world of the Icelandic group. The way they bring in new instruments as tracks move along makes every song feel like an epic piece while still keeping them about 5 minutes apiece. I've grown an emotional bond with this group that I never see fading away.\

[Experimental] Amedeo Tommasi - Alghe romantiche 2

I discovered this hauntingly beautiful electronic composition through Ittiologia, a compilation of Library Music released in 1973. Library Music is NOT music played in a library, but is rather "the name given to recorded music that can be licensed to customers for use in film, television, radio and other media" (thanks Wiki).

[Experimental] Jah Wobble, The Edge and Holger Czukay - Snake Charmer (side A)

Jah Wobble - was a member of post-punk band "Public Image Ltd (PiL)"
The Edge - U2 guitarist
Holger Czukay - composer/sampler/bass player for Can

A very diverse set of musicians united by a tendency towards the weirder side of rock music. This sits at the intersection between post-punk and dance music, one that was also explored by musicians like The Pop Group and Maximum Joy. This release was criticized by AllMusic for being "Too much. Too many and too much." That aspect of this album was a highlight for me, which goes to show how subjective music criticism can be.

[Experimental] Dedalus - Santiago

Long been infatuated with the album cover of this under-appreciated gem of Italian Jazz. Reminds me of a Magritte painting.
